Sue Wilson Obituary

Sue Carol Wilson, age 66, of Cumming passed away Dec. 6, 2012, after a battle with breast cancer that she faced with a strong will and on her own terms. Born in Hudson, N.Y., April 23, 1946, Sue made her mark in North Carolina and Texas before taking Cumming by storm.
Sue turned her own life tragedies into a driving force to provide help for others. She dreamt of, developed, and grew her Forsyth County non-profit organization, Garden of Empowerment. She used her organization as a platform for her mission in life to help women move forward after divorce, separation, or widowhood.
Sue had a deep love for the ocean, all things pink, and above all, her family and friends.
She leaves behind her loving son, Marc; daughter-in-law Jennine, who thought of her as a mother; two grandsons, Ethan and Tyler, who will always remember trips with grandma for all-you-can-eat fried chicken and dollar store shopping sprees; precious granddaughter, Emily, who loved blowing bubbles with grandma on her front lawn and having story time by the fireplace; as well as her brother, Ray, who still calls New York home, but always stayed in touch.
The number of friends she leaves behind is countless and each one held a special place in her heart, and her in theirs.
Following her wishes, a celebration of her life will be held in her honor where she hopes for all of her friends and family to remember the good times and share happy memories. The celebration will be held in the community room of McDonald and Son Funeral Home Friday, Jan. 4, from 7-9 p.m.
Condolences may be expressed online at www.mcdonaldandson.com.

I knew Sue as activities director at White Oaks at Lanier where my Mother lived. She was such a kind, positive and compassionate person that touched lives for the better daily. Not a day went by without some discussion of her beloved grandchildren and kitties. I was so sad to read of her passing and will always fondly remember this amazing lady.

Sue, I know you earned your angel wings on earth and that you will continue to bless others in your new heavenly home. You were a light in my life and I thank God for you!

Although I never had the pleasure of meeting your wonderful family: Marc, Jeanine, Emily, Ethan and Tyler;
I got to know them through pictures and the wonderful stories you shared about each of them. Please know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers; now and in the days ahead.
Peace & Blessings,
TerriLynn Clark

Sue was a shining example of kindness and generosity, and she cared for everyone around her without question or hesitation. My life is better for having known her, even if only for such a brief period of time. She will be sorely missed.

Marc,Your mom was a very important friend in my life, and I miss her dearly. I will never forget our day trip to NC to Harrahs, the fun we had and the peace we felt on the veranda overlooking the creek just chatting, about life,. dreams and cats. I wish I could be there tonight, but my heart, thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. God Bless. Lynn Barnes

Marc and Family - Sue was such a dear friend. She wlll be remembered always. Her hug in the grocery store begging me to call her if I didn't get to feeling better. She was there buying goodies for her friends at White Oaks. This was her off day, but she was still thinking of her friends there. I will never forget that last hug and her interest in me. You really lost a wonderful Mother. I just learned this today or I would have been in touch sooner.
