Thomas Fingal Nicolson, 86, of Cumming passed away April 23, 2014, at Northside Hospital-Forsyth. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, he was the son of the late Thomas and Jessie Nicolson.
Thomas was a graduate of Royal Roads Maritime School and attended the University of Washington. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and retired as a Captain in the United States Merchant Marine. He also played professional hockey in Canada.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joanne Nicolson of Cumming; children, Michael Campbell Nicolson of Chicago, Ill., Anne Marie (Edward James) Maloney of Arlington Heights, Ill.; and much-loved grandchildren, Kate, Lily and Claire Maloney.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 28, at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, April 27, from 5-7 p.m.
