Mr. Verlyn Harris Branham Jr., age 85, of Cumming passed away Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008. He was a member of the Cumming First United Methodist Church and a graduate of Georgia Tech. Mr. Branham was also a retired electrical engineer and owner of V.H. Barnham and Son. A U.S. Navy veteran, he served in World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the North Georgia Dulcimer Group and the best Papa in the world.
Mr. Branham was preceded in death by his son, Verlyn Harris Branham III.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Branham of Cumming; daughters, Linda Ann Barnes of Lawrenceville, Nanci Lynn Lyons of Cumming; brothers, Richard Branham of Mt. Dora, Fla., Jimmy Branham of Chattanooga, Tenn.; grandchildren, Shanda Lannell Hegwood of Tarpon Springs, Fla., Heather Leight Pechter of Atlanta; great-grandchildren, Matthew Keith Hegwood, Jackson Dean "Dino" Pechter; numerous other relatives also survive.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 1:30 p.m. at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
