Virgie Bowen, 88, of Cumming passed away at Northside Hospital Forsyth on Nov. 14, 2009. The daughter of the late Clomer and Susie Duffey, her beloved husband, Jack Bowen also predeceased her.
Mrs. Bowen was an active member of Cumming First United Methodist Church and earlier, Jones Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a great wife, mother, grand-mommy and friend to all. She taught her family about the love of Jesus Christ and always to look forward and not look back.
Virgie is survived by her daughter, Jackie (Gene) Hodges of Cumming; son, Ken (Jillann) Bowen of Cumming; grandchildren, Gina (Kevin) Ragsdale, Kevin (Lori) Hodges, Kristin (Brian) Duffey, Megan and Kent Bowen; great-grandchildren, Brock, Braden and Brittan Ragsdale, Grant Hodges and Skyler Duffey.
A celebration of Virgie's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17, in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. John Cromartie and the Rev. Kevin Ragsdale officiating. The family will receive visitors from 1-2 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Virgie Bowen Memorial Fund, Cumming First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 606, Cumming, GA 30028, or to Lori Gore, c/o Gina Ragsdale, 3125 Corsair Curve, Cumming, GA 30040.
