Walter Goodson, Jr.
Walter "Sonny" Goodson, Jr., age 85, of Suwanee went home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, June 11. Sonny was a member and usher at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Dawsonville. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Sonny was a very beloved man and will be missed by many.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Martha Porter Goodson; sons, Walter Eugene "Buster" Goodson of Smyrna, Mark (Cindy) Goodson of Cleveland, TN; step-son, Allen H. (Sheila) Porter of Jasper; step-daughter, Lee Mauer (Robbie) Martin of Alabama; an extra-special granddaughter, Kayla Porter (Kevin) Green and another granddaughter, Amber Goodson; grandsons, Paul (Amanda) Goodson, Jonathan Goodson, Tyler Mauer, Zane Martin; a wonderful niece, Karen Trent and her family; along with many other friends and relatives.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 4 – 9 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Charles Blackstock officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 14, at Georgia National Cemetery. Condolences may be made at
