Mr. Wendell Joseph (Joe) Weldy Sr., age 80, of Cumming passed away Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008. He was the son of Jeter and Evelyn Weldy, grandson of Joseph Solomon Morris and Viola Kinchen Morris.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Earl Weldy and Jean Weldy.
Mr. Weldy was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, a Veteran of the U.S. Army during the end of World War II and the Korean War. He was a pharmacist by trade and chief drug inspector for the states of Florida and Georgia.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Peggy Weldy of Cumming; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and David Freund of Canton; sons and daughters-in-law, Bo and Kim Weldy, Tommy and Anita Weldy, all of Cumming; grandchildren, Hannah Weldy, Connor Weldy, Jake Weldy, Ashlee Weldy, Mason Weldy; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Louis Jordan of Canton; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Robbie Weldy of Cumming; cousin, Mary and Juan Ramirez of Cumming; several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Orr, the Rev. Larry Vaughan and the Rev. Henry Wade officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, Nov. 10, from 6-9 p.m.
