William (Bill) C. Reynolds, 92, passed away July 25, 2011, from natural causes. Born in Lone Oak, Texas, Mr. Reynolds entered the U.S. Army at Ft. Sill, Okla., and later graduated from Infantry OCS at Ft. Benning. He served in the Philippines during World War II and received an honorable discharge at the rank of captain in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1954.
He began working in the fire protection industry in Texas as a pipe fitter at the age of 18 and later in years became CEO of Viking Fire Protection of the Southeast. He served as president of the National Fire Sprinkler Association.
He loved canoeing and remarkably continued to water ski into his late 70s. He was a regular contributing author to the Lone Oak Newsletter. Mr. Reynolds was a Mason and Shriner. His philanthropic and church contributions in personal time are too numerous to mention. He will be missed by his family as well as many personal and professional friends.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice H. Reynolds; daughter, Debbie Reynolds Glass; son-in-law, Major Richard S. Glass (USA); son, William B. Reynolds; daughter-in-law, Star Reynolds; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 30, at 1 p.m. at Kingswood United Methodist Church in Dunwoody.
In lieu of flowers, he requested contributions be made to the Lone Oak United Methodist Church Building Fund, 218 Main Street, Lone Oak, Texas 75453.
