William Frank Stone, age 89, of Alpharetta passed away July 20, 2009, after an extended illness. Born in Gwinnett County, he was a veteran of World War II, proudly serving in the U.S. Army in Italy and North Africa in the 34th Infantry Division and was the recipient of two Purple Hearts. He was a longtime member of Sardis United Methodist Church and was retired from Lockheed Aircraft Manufacturing Company.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ruby Stone; sisters, Marjorie Stone, Shirley Stone, Lillian Hearndon; brother, Henry Stone Jr.; brothers-in-law, Bill Warren, Lanier Hearndon; sister-in-law, Blondie Stone.
He is survived by his sisters, Catherine Warren of Norcross, Emily McCormick of Cumming, Chris Jones of Atlanta; brother, Loyd Stone of Gainesville; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 23, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Macedonia Memorial Park.
