William Franklin "Woody" Collins, 78, of Cumming passed away May 22, 2011, at Northside Hospital Forsyth. Born in Wheatland, Wyo., he was the son of the late Mervyn and Delores Collins. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Carol Collins; brother, Phillip Collins; and sisters, Joan Kunkle and June Lewis.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Woody served aboard the U.S.S. Halfbeak. As an industrial engineer, he worked for Schlumberger and then established and owned Adtech Security.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Joan Hellman Collins of Cumming; son, David (Kaye) Collins of Clayton; daughter, Karen (Thomas) Mastrangelo of Cumming; and much-loved grandchildren, Alex Collins, Christina Mastrangelo and Anna Mastrangelo.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Embracing Hospice House, 8013 Majors Road, Cumming, GA 30040.
