William Harmon Shell, age 80, of Cumming passed away June 4, 2010, at Embracing Hospice in Cumming. A native of Coweta County, he was born Jan. 20, 1930, to the late Roy Harmon and Ethel Moore Shell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, LaVerne McEwen Shell.
Early in his working life, he found his calling in accounting and was still active in the profession at the time of his illness. When not pursuing his fascination with accounting, sports and car racing were of great interest to him.
Surviving Mr. Shell is his wife, Carolyn Ward Pursley Shell of Cumming; his children, Brenda Shell Sherwood and her husband Scott of Suwanee, Joan Shell Clarke and her husband Ken of Buford, Jennie Pursley Gillihan and her husband Ron of Newnan, Laura Pursley Cash and her husband Tommy of Newnan, James "Bo" Pursley and his wife Lee Anne of Lawrenceville; his sister, Janice Shell Smith and her husband Art of Savannah; brother, Robert C. Shell and his wife Jean of Senoia; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 8, at 2 p.m. in the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Searcy Jackson officiating. Interment will be in the Senoia City Cemetery.
