William J. Tierney, 82, of North Palm Beach, Fla., passed away Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Embracing Hospice in Cumming. He was born in Plains, Pa., Dec. 9, 1930. He was raised in Detroit, Mich., and lived in Cincinnati, Ohio, Winter Park, Fla., and Ridgefield, Conn. For the next 33 years, he split his time living between a residence in North Palm Beach, Fla., and Murphy, N.C. He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served during the Korean War. He loved the Atlanta Braves, golfing and the lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Rose Tierney; brothers, John and David Tierney; and niece, Debbie.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ann Tierney of North Palm Beach, Fla.; children, Lynn Tierney of Roswell, Kathleen and Mickey Scudder of Suwanee, Paul and Sherry Tierney of Lancaster, Calif., Beth and Tim Corbin of Cumming; grandchildren, Jennifer and Joey West of Cumming, Kris and Elizabeth Corbin of Cumming, Matthew Corbin of Cumming, Michael, Steven and Brian Scudder of Suwanee, Peter and Amanda Tierney of Lancaster, Calif., Anna Tierney of Lancaster, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Samantha, McKenna and Ryann West of Cumming, Emerson Corbin of Cumming.
A memorial mass will be held Saturday, Jan. 5, at noon at St. Brendan Catholic Church in Cumming.
