William Roger Bennett, age 72, of Atlanta passed away Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, of cancer. Roger was born in Buford to Luther and Winnie Bennett. He was a member of First Baptist Church Atlanta. He was a caring brother and a good friend. He loved his family, his friends, and his church.
Roger worked for many years in the hospitality business at Atlanta Visitor and Business Bureau and at Learning Tree International, where he was Atlanta Education Center Coordinator. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas and Mack; his adopted son, Jack.
One of Roger's greatest joys was helping other people.
He is survived by his sisters, Ruth Martin, Jane Whiteside and her husband Wendell, Anne Preston and her husband Gary; several nieces and nephews; two grandnieces; eight grandnephews; and one great-grandnephew.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 14, at 11 a.m. at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel. Several of Roger's favorite songs will be played. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, Aug. 13, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
