Henry Nathan Bearden, 94, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday April 9, 2014, with loved ones by his side. He was a native of Georgia, born in Marietta, and was the son of Floyd M. Bearden and Maude Bell Spence, both deceased. He had 11 siblings, Louise Fisher, Irene Hardin, William Ernest, Roy McClendon, Hugh Dorsey, Grace Gupton, Bertha Hudgins, James Frank, and Martha Jean, all deceased. Frances Everette and Floyd McClendon Jr. are still living.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 68 years, Dorothy Ramey Bearden; sons and wives, Nathan Duane and Janet, Dr. Dwight Lee and Rhonda, Rev. David Stephen and Connie; eight grandchildren, Matthew, Leslie, Alexis Hill and husband Donny, Brett, Garrett and wife Casey, Bethany, Stephen, and Anna; great-grandchildren, Gavin and Zoe Jayne Bearden, Zechariah Hill.
Nathan's first love was God and his church. He served in many capacities of the church at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church of Cobb County. He was a church member of First Redeemer in Forsyth County.
He served his country in World War II, he was injured by the German bombing in North Africa in 1943. He served in Sicily, and Italy. He was a member of the 307th American Legion of Cumming.
After the war, he was employed by the FAA. He traveled in the southeast, helping to install the airport instrument landing systems. Later, he transferred and was employed by the U.S. 3rd Army at Fort McPherson, Georgia in the communications center. He retired from the U.S. government after 37 years of service.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 12, at 3 p.m. in the McDonald and Son Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. on Friday, April 11, at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be held Monday, April 14, at 11:30 a.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
