Jere C. Hulsey, 78, of Dawsonville passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014, following a period of declining health. Born May 27, 1936, in Lumpkin County, to the late Clint C. and Vera Parks Hulsey, Mr. Hulsey had been a resident of Dawson County most of his life. Jere retired as an inspector with the U.S.D.A. after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of Dawsonville Baptist Church, was a U.S. Army veteran and was also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Lillian Taylor; and a nephew, Eddie Grogan.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Peggy Hulsey of Dawsonville; son, Clint Hulsey of Roswell; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Greg Sheriff of Dawsonville; granddaughter, Amanda Sheriff of Dawsonville; sister and brother-in-law, Joanna and Glenn "Hoss" Grogan of Cumming; brother and sisters-in-law; Stephen and Linda Hulsey of West Point, Martha Taylor of Dawsonville; nieces and nephews, Ginger Power, David and Julie Grogan, Stephanie and Tommy Falkenberry, Michael and Carrie Hulsey.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 2, at 11 a.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Russell Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Dawsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, July 1, from 2-8 p.m.
