Velvie C. Kirby, age 79, of Cumming passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012. She was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, J.C. Kirby of Cumming; children, Clifton and Amy Kirby of Cumming, Ronnie Kirby of Cumming, Nancy and Eugene Langston of Cumming, Fred and Virginia Kirby of Dawsonville, Larry and Janice Kirby of Cumming, Dorothy and Eddie Chester of Cumming; grandchildren, Amanda Kirby, Shelby (Blake) Bennett, Jonathan Kirby, Kevin Kirby, James Chester, Carter Kirby; soon to be great-grandson, Nolan Bennett; step grandchildren, Patrick, Chris and Kevin Langston; four step great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. at New Harmony Baptist Church, with the Rev. Johnny Purcell, the Rev. James McGaha and the Rev. James Samples officiating. Interment will follow at New Harmony Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home Wednesday, Dec. 5, from 6:30-9 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday, Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service.
