Shirley Unrein Obituary

Shirley Mae Unrein, 68, lifelong area resident, died unexpectedly Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at her home in Fort Morgan.
Shirley Mae was born February 18th, 1945 in Sterling, Colorado, to Paul and Pauline (Leachman) Hergenreter. In her youth, Shirley Mae grew up on farms both in Sterling and Fort Morgan. She was a member of the 4-H club and had a love for horses. Shirley Mae attended school in Sterling. She graduated from the Fort Morgan Community College where she received her CNA in nursing.
Shirley Mae was a member of the Saint Helena's Catholic Church in Fort Morgan. She loved spending time in the garden, sitting by the comfort of her fireplace and she loved opening her home for all occasions. Her love of cooking was enjoyed by all. The most valued time was spent with her kids and grandchildren. Shirley Mae was a caregiver at heart, working the OB unit at the Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan, Colorado. This would have marked her 30th year. Her radiant smile and her warm embrace is what stole the hearts of many who were honored enough to meet her.
Survivors include her four children, Julie Stovell and her husband, Joe, of Alpine, TX, Brenda Wallace and her husband, Jason, of Fort Morgan, Brad Unrein of Fort Morgan, and Brian Unrein and his wife, Amy, of Maize, Kansas. She is also survived by her mother, Pauline Hergenreter of Fort Morgan; her two sisters, Terry Behrends and her husband, Tony, of Fort Morgan, and Beverly Staples of Pell City, AL; a brother, Richard Hergenreter of Fort Morgan, and her sister-in-law, Dee Hergenreter of Fort Morgan; nine grandchildren, Jaelyn, Morgen, LJ, Maxwell, Courtney, Kaitlyn, Spencer, Carley, and Andrew; and her great-grandson, Keegan.
Shirley Mae was preceded in death by her infant son, Jeffery Unrein; her father, Paul Hergenreter Sr.; and her brother, Paul Hergenreter Jr.
We will always carry your memory in our hearts.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 4th, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Helena's Catholic Church in Fort Morgan. Inurnment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Fort Morgan.
Memorial donations may be made to Colorado Plains Medical Center OB Department.

We will greatly miss our Aunt Shirl who would always make us smile with her laughter, and loving heart. I will never forget the fun times we all had riding in the wood paneled station wagon headed to Micky D's for a ice cream cone.

Love,
Mitch, Angie, Jake, and Tyler
