Arnold "Kelly" Emmett Smith, 91, life-long Brush resident, died August 3, 2013 at East Morgan County Hospital. He was born to Charles and Mary Elizabeth Smith on December 22, 1921 in Brush, Colorado.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II
from 1942 until 1945. On November 4, 1947 Kelly married Edith Marie Christensen in Brush. Prior to retirement, he worked at Great Western Sugar Co. as a sugar boiler for 28 years.
Kelly is survived by his wife, Edith, and his son, Thomas. He is also survived by grandchildren, Pat Heagney, Michelle Miller and Faith Marie Smith, numerous great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild along with many nephews and nieces.
Kelly is preceded in death by his parents; nine siblings, Sylvia Haley, William "Billy" Smith, Donavon "Don" Smith, Myrtle Coplen, Otto "Bus" Smith, Clyde Smith, Florence Mangus, Edith Mangus, Ernest "Ernie" Smith; and a son, Norman Lee Smith.
A memorial service will be held Brush Memorial Cemetery Interment Chapel on August 15th at 10:30 a.m.
