Betty June Nicklas, 89, of Fort Morgan, Colorado, passed away on March 3, 2014 at the Colorado Plains Medical Center.
Betty was born to George and Penny Headley (Pennington) of Stoneham, Colorado, on October 13, 1924 at the Sterling Hospital. She graduated from Stoneham High School in the class of 1942. Betty married Lawrence William Nicklas, also of Stoneham, Colorado, July 3, 1942. They farmed and ranched north of town until 1970, when they moved into Fort Morgan.
She was a lifelong homemaker, raising her children until 1982 when her youngest graduated high school. Betty loved cooking, crocheting, sewing, crafting, shopping, dining out, and socializing with friends. She especially loved Sunday dinners with her family and the annual "all girls" family Christmas shopping trip.
Betty Nicklas is survived by 3 children, all of Fort Morgan, Randy Nicklas and wife, Diane, Candy Gettman and husband, Randy, and Jan Pflager and husband, Kent. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Farrah Dobbins and husband, David, of Fort Collins, Josh Jensen and wife, Abby, of Highlands Ranch, and Amanda and Alyssa Rios of Fort Morgan; and 2 great-grandchildren, Quinlyn and Rylinn Dobbins of Fort Collins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Lawrence "Nick" Nicklas; her parents; her siblings, Jo Holzworth of Stoneham and Gordon "Pete" Headley of Sterling; niece, Kasey Jo Warner; nephew, Sam Headley, and most of her friends.

Funeral service will be held at the Fort Morgan Church of the Nazarene, located at 221 West 7th Avenue, Friday, March 7th, at 2:00 p.m. with internment in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Celebration of life reception will be immediately following at the Country Steak-Out Restaurant.
