Darrel Aldrich

Darrel D. Aldrich, 82, longtime Fort Morgan resident, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Sunset Manor in Brush. He was born June 7, 1931, Beaver City, NE to Bert & Ethel Aldrich. The Aldrich family moved to Fort Morgan in 1942. Darrel graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1949. A little later he joined the US Army. Following his honorable discharge, he came back to Fort Morgan. On June 23, 1957, he married Nancy Earl in Tulsa, OK. In 1960, Darrel went to work at Morgan Federal Bank where he served as Vice President in charge of the savings department. He retired in 1996. Darrel had a passion for volunteering in several organizations in Fort Morgan. He was an active member of the Fort Morgan United Methodist Church, the Lions Club, member & past master of the Oasis Masonic Lodge, a member of the El Jebel Shrine, served as a Rainbow Dad, was one of the founding members of the Fort Morgan Museum & Heritage Foundation, served on the Fort Morgan Community Hospital Association, and was involved with the March of Dimes. He loved working his yard & garden; and playing pitch & poker with his card buddies. Survivors include his wife, Nancy of Fort Morgan; 2 daughters, Jane Reyez, and her husband Joe of Fort Morgan; and Sally Ann Aldrich of Arvada, CO; his brother, Jerry Aldrich of KY; 1 grandson, Tristan and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by 1 sister, Kay Aldrich; 2 brothers, Wesley, & Don; and his parents. A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 15, 2014, at 11:00 AM at the Fort Morgan United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be in Serenity Falls Columbarium. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Fort Morgan United Methodist Church or to the Fort Morgan Museum & Heritage Foundation. The Heer Mortuary is entrusted with the funeral arrangements
