Ernest Holbeck, 82, longtime area farmer, died Sunday evening, January 12, 2014, at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush.
He was born February 13, 1931 in Fort Morgan to Joseph and Anna (Uhrick) Holbeck. After graduating from high school, Ernest served in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany. He married Karlyn Brus in Brush, CO, on September 22, 1956.
Ernest was a life member of B.P.O.E Lodge #1143 and the V.F.W
. Post 2551. He enjoyed golfing, playing softball, and bowling. His greatest passion was his many years of farming.
He is survived by his wife, Karlyn Holbeck of Fort Morgan; his four children, Marsha Rae Lee and her husband, Larry of Gillette, WY, Lisa Rose Holbeck of Waco, TX, Ed Neal Holbeck and his wife, Annette of Fort Morgan, and Ernest Kent Holbeck and his wife, Jodi of Fort Morgan; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Rita Jo Holbeck; his sister, Betty Green; and his brothers, Herman Holbeck and John Holbeck.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17th, in Serenity Falls Columbarium in Fort Morgan.
