Gail Irene Tolson entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on January 23, 2014 from Hospice of the Valley in Peoria, Arizona.
Gail was born on July 7, 1935 in Buffalo, New York, to John L. and Helen A. (Tuttle) Garland. She attended schools in Arlington, Virginia. Upon graduating from high school, Gail attended Bob Jones University and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. While at Bob Jones University, she met Robert (Bob) A. Tolson and following their graduation they were married on June 4, 1957 in Arlington, Virginia.
Gail taught 2nd grade while Bob attended Dallas Theological Seminary. While in Dallas, Rebecca Lynn Tolson was born on December 9, 1958 and Robert A. Tolson, Jr. was born on April 4, 1961.
In 1965, the family moved to Zambia, Africa, to serve with Africa Evangelical Fellowship. While in Zambia, Stephen John Tolson was born on July 26, 1966.
The family then moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where Bob taught at the Philadelphia College of Bible and Gail taught at Faith Christian School. Then, in 1971, the family moved to Houston, Texas, and served Bethel Independent Presbyterian Church for thirty years. Gail loved singing in the choir and teaching the Ladies Bible Study. Upon retirement, Bob and Gail moved to Peoria, Arizona.
Gail was a woman who was in love with Jesus and loved Him with all her heart, soul and mind and was devoted to the study of God's Word. She was a faithful wife, loving mother, devoted grandmother and loyal friend. She was a joy to be around and we all loved her infectious laughter.
Gail was a voracious reader, a prolific writer, and a powerful woman of prayer. She also enjoyed painting and sketching. But her love for the Lord and her family was always the source of her greatest joy. She prayed for her children and grandchildren each and every day.
Gail is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Robert A. Tolson of Peoria, Arizona; her daughter, Rebecca Cragoe (and her husband, Tom) of Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania; her sons, Robert Tolson, Jr. (and his wife, Debra) of Fort Morgan, Colorado, and Stephen Tolson (and his wife, Chrissy) of Peoria, Arizona; her four grandchildren, Abigail, Melissa and Bobby Tolson of Fort Morgan, Colorado, and Stephanie Tolson of Peoria, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 31, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Evangelical Church. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Heer Mortuaries & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
