Getrudis "Trudy" Furtaw, 80, longtime Fort Morgan resident, died Monday, November 18, 2013, at Valley View Villa in Fort Morgan.
She was born on September 5, 1933 in Las Vegas, New Mexico, to Juan and Eusebia (Sandoval) Martinez. She married Lloyd Furtaw in 1977. Trudy came to Fort Morgan from Phoenix, AZ, in 1982.
Trudy worked in housekeeping at hotels for the majority of her working years. She attended the Sanctuary in Fort Morgan. She enjoyed making people laugh, spending time with her grandchildren, and fishing.
Trudy is survived by seven children, David Martinez of Hays, KS, Phil Martinez of Phoenix, AZ, Rocky Martinez and his wife, Carmen, of Brush, CO, Erma Martinez of Aurora, CO, Jerry Martinez of Fort Morgan, Johnny Martinez of Grand Prairie, TX, and Diana Oden and her boyfriend, Kalem Celestino, of Brush, CO. She is also survived by her sisters, Delphina Martinez of Denver, Ambrosita Romero and Rafe Rangel, both of Fort Morgan; 16 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Trudy was preceded in death by 6 siblings, Louie Martinez, Christopher Martinez, Mary Rodarte, Dora Laso, Nora Martinez, and Jenny Martinez; her husband, Lloyd Furtaw; her parents, and her son, Tommy Martinez.
Visitation will be Friday, November 22nd, from 4 to 6 p.m. with funeral services following at 6:00 p.m. at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. Services will conclude at the chapel. Graveside services and Interment will be in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix on Monday, November 25th.
