Harriet Ann "Tanny" Eastman, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on November 8, 2013 at the age of 92. Tanny was born January 29, 1921 in Sterling, CO, one of ten children born to Paul and Neva Blankenship. She graduated from Sterling High School with the class of 1938.
She was married to Max Pershing Morris in 1941. They had three children, Charles, Maxann and Michael. Max died in 1948. Two years later, Tanny married John Eastman, a partner in the Eastman Distributing business. Tanny and John had two daughters, Elizabeth and Patricia; all five children were raised in Fort Morgan, CO.
Affectionately known as "Mema," Tanny enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, playing bridge and reading. She was a member of the St. Charles Episcopal Church for sixty-four years and helped run the church's "Nearly New Store," a source of financial support to the church. She was also a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, volunteering in the hospital gift Shop and was a member of PEO.
Tanny is survived by her sister, Dorothy Minister of Omaha, NE; three daughters, Maxann (Tom) Hulse, Elizabeth (Greg) Wagers and Patricia (Rick) Green, all of Fort Morgan; and one son, Michael Eastman, PhD (Christopher Watson, PhD) of Minneapolis, MN. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Tanny was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers, and one sister, her husbands, and one son, Charles Eastman.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 22, 2013, at the Saint Charles Episcopal Church, 505 E. 8th Ave., in Fort Morgan beginning at 10:30 in the morning. Donations in Tammy's name can be made to the Saint Charles Episcopal Church in Fort Morgan.
