Judy Nelson, 72, of Weldona, passed away Friday, May 23, 2014, in the hospice care unit at St. Andrews in Aurora, CO. She was born June 9, 1941, in San Mateo, CA to Kenneth & Virginia Darr. Judy met her beloved husband, Dennis Nelson, and they married on November 22, 1969. They were married for 44 years and blessed with 2 daughters, Christine & Carrie. They have lived in Weldona for the past 42 years. Judy worked for 27 years as a teacher, first with Head Start and after obtaining her teaching degree, Trinity Lutheran Preschool. She developed and created a wonderful curriculum for the preschool that taught many children throughout Morgan County. She loved to make educational games, sewing, and gardening. She especially enjoyed spending time with her husband Dennis, her family and all of her animals. Survivors include her daughters, Christine Hansen and Carrie Mesch, her 10 grandchildren, Christopher Schrum, Kaleb, Aprel & Penni Dahlgren, Samantha Hansen, Taylor & Harley Reeves, Matthew, Michael & Madison Mesch; 1 great grandson, Quinton Deyarmond, also by her sister, Debbie Sweeney. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis, who passed away just 17 days prior to her passing, her parents, Kenneth & Virginia Darr, & brother-in-law Bill Sweeney. A memorial of her life will be held at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, officiated by Pastor Paul Zeigler, on Saturday, May 31, at 10:30 AM. The service will conclude at the church.
