He graduated from Fort Morgan High School and obtained a degree in business administration from CSU in Fort Collins. Upon graduation in 1980, Kurt began a career with DOW Chemical Company as an inside sales trainee in Boston, MA, and then a salesman in Seattle, WA. He was promoted to a Magnesium Product Manager in Midland, MI, and then was named Dow's Global Phenol Product Manager, also in Midland, MI. In 1993 he left Dow and was recruited by a St. Louis plastics company as their Director of Sales and Customer Service.
In 1999 Kurt and his family returned to Colorado where he established an investment advising business in Loveland.
