Lucretia Jane Hauschildt, 102, of Fort Morgan, died Friday, June 28, 2013, at Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan.
Lucretia was born in Plankinton, SD, on April 27, 1911 to Walter and Katherine (Chittick) Dexheimer. She finished high school in Twin Valley, MN and came to Colorado in 1930. She married George Hauschildt in Sterling, CO, on June 2, 1934.
She owned and operated a poultry dressing business in Fort Morgan for 35 years in addition to being a homemaker extraordinaire. Lucretia was the first of the Sagebrush Painters, organizing the club in 1949, was a well-known local artist, and belonged to the Home Demonstration Club for 18 years. She was involved with 4-H clubs for 4 years, helped with Awanas Club for 15 years, and taught Sunday School in the early 1950's. Lucretia was a member of Grace Bible Church. She had a book and several magazine articles published throughout her lifetime. Lucretia was an avid rock hound with a hobby for lapidary.
Lucretia is survived by her daughters, Nancy Lee Hough and her husband, Grady of Fort Morgan and Dorothy May Draper of Kamloops, British Columbia; her sister, Martha Crandell of Dayton, OH; her grandchildren, Cristeen Jessen and her husband, Dennis of Cheyenne, WY, Mark Hough of Rock Springs, WY, John Lieder and his wife, Thresaof Pueblo, Terry Curtis and her husband, Steve of Merino, Jody Nielsen and his wife, Debby of Hillrose, and Emil Peters and his wife, Kaiola of Kamloops, British Columbia. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Betty Vondy of Brush, and Ruth Hauschildt of Florence, and numerous nieces and nephews, including Bobby and Susie. Lucretia will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John Dexheimer and Arthur Dexheimer; two sisters, Ruth Haber and Eneyd Andrews; her daughter, Jean Katherine Nielsen; her sons-in-law, Brent Draper, John Lieder, and Morris Nielsen; her brother-in-law, Phil Vondy; and her husband.
Visitation will be held today, July 1st, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2nd, in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan.
Friends may make memorial donations to the Fort Morgan Public Library, 414 Main Street, Fort Morgan, CO 80701.

We were so blessed by Jane for so many years. We look forward to seeing her in heaven. We are so thankful that she never stopped ministering to people around her even during her "retirement" years:)
