Martin T. Goedert, 97, died Sunday, March 23, 2014, in the emergency room at Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan.
He was born in Adena, CO, on December 26, 1916 to Mathias and Mary (Zubrod) Goedert. He attended school until the eighth grade and farmed in Morgan County all of his life until he retired.
Martin was a member of Saint Helena's Catholic Church in Fort Morgan and the B.P.O.E. (Elks) Lodge #1143. He was also active at the Senior Center in Fort Morgan.
He is survived by his son, Harold Goedert of Fort Morgan; his grandson, Mark Goedert of Greeley; his granddaughter, Carol Sjerven and her husband, Chris, of Centennial; his great-grandchildren, Cash Goedert, Mackenzie Sjerven and Taylor Sjerven. Martin is also survived by his friend, Bob Dorr (who was like a second son to him) and his wife, Sandra, of Colorado City, CO, their children, Bryan Dorr and Aric Dorr, and their granddaughter, Jordan Dorr.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, George, Ed, Matt, Carl, Ellen, and Vern.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Helena's Catholic Church in Fort Morgan on Saturday, March 29th, at 10:30 a.m. The Rosary will be recited prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
