William Allen Carter, 68, of Fairfield, IL, formally of Colorado, passed away on March 29, 2013 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Funeral services were held at noon on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Known to his friends as Willie, he was born on December 23, 1944 to Wilson and Gladys (Polland) Carter in Centerville, IL. Mr. Carter served in the Army and came home from his tour from Viet Nam in 1969.
Willie enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. At the time of his death, Willie had retired. He worked in the oilfields in Colorado from the late 1970s to early 1990s.
He belonged to the VFW of Albion, IL, and had been a member of the VFW of Fort Morgan.
Willie is survived by his wife, Eva of Fairfield, and former wife, Rhoda Carter of Fort Morgan; four daughters, Dawn Marie of Fairfield, Amy (Kevin) Cyr of Snyder, Tammy (Garry) Barkdoll of Fort Morgan, and Marsha (Gene) Westhoff of Log Lane Village; six sons, William and Jason of Fairfield, John (Jodi) of Newburgh, IN, Lee (Cindy) of Grayville, Brian of Brush, and Shannon (Lori) of Mankato, NM. Willie had 28 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Barbara (David) and one brother, Daniel (Donna), both of Albion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter and 3 grandsons.
