Gwenith worked as budget analyst for the State Department in Washington, DC before moving to this area with her husband, Ray, in 1969.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ft. Morgan and also a member of Friday Club.
In her younger years Gwenith taught music lessons, directed a children's choir, and sang in various choirs. She loved flowers, especially roses, and also enjoyed painting. Gwenith had some of her paintings hanging in her home, as well as in the homes of family and friends. When playing piano became difficult for her, she donated her grand piano to the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush for others to enjoy.
Survivors include one daughter, Jacqueline Gallagher of Delmar, Delaware; two sons, Michael B. McCordic of Bethesda, Maryland, and Robert O. McCordic of Linthicum, Maryland; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, her parents, two sisters, and one brother.
There will be a visitation on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, from 2 until 4 p.m. at the Heer Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. She will be cremated following the visitation.
Memorial services will be Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ft. Morgan. After the service, there will be a reception for family and friends at the church. Following the reception, Gwenith will be inurned in a niche with her husband, Ray, at the United Presbyterian Church Columbarium in Ft. Morgan.
Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to The Siberian Lutheran Missionary Society, SELC, at 2551 West Bacon Road, Hillsdale, MI 49242.
