Kathy Jo (Meisner) Printz Obituary
Kathy Jo Printz, 70, died Wednesday morning, June 12, 2013, at Valley View Villa in Fort Morgan after a short illness.
Kathy was born July 13, 1942 in Fort Morgan to Alexander and Evelyn (Warner) Meisner. She grew up in the Goodrich/Wiggins areas and was active in 4-H and county fair activities. Kathy graduated from Wiggins High School in 1960.
She married Carl Printz in Wiggins on June 11, 1961. The Printz family farmed in the Morgan County area for 51 years where Kathy took on the role of the family farm bookkeeper and homemaker. She also worked for RE-3 School District for 10 years as a special education teacher assistant.
Kathy was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Church in Fort Morgan where she was active in the Women's Fellowship. She had also belonged to PTO, as well as Under Cover Book Club, and she belonged to several bridge card clubs, sewing and quilting groups, and was an avid music supporter. Dutch Hop and Polka dancing events, which honored her German-Russian heritage were very important to her. Kathy was a gifted cook. She was always willing to lend a hand, a smile, a meal, and a hug to anyone in need. Her outgoing and caring personality made it impossible for her to ever know anyone as a stranger.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Carl Printz of Fort Morgan; three daughters, Debbie Shumaker of Evans, Lorie Bernhardt and her husband, Kelvin, of Wiggins, and Koreen Goodman and her husband, Brent, of Chula Vista, CA; her honorary son, Thomas Printz of Fort Morgan; her four grandchildren, Amber Case, Nicole Turnbull, Kyle Bernhardt, and Tyler Goodman; and her three great-grandchildren, Devin Case, Alyssa Torrez, and Naven Jeffrey; her sister, Lenore Penfold of Evans; and sister-in-law, Sharon Meisner of Yuma.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Charles Meisner; and her infant son, Michael Lee Printz.
Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan on Friday, June 14th, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 15th, at Immanuel Evangelical Church, 318 W. 7th Ave., in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens in Fort Morgan.
