Mary Ziegler Obituary

Mary Ziegler, 97, died Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush.

Mary was born in Longmont on June 16, 1916 to Melger Sr. & Pulgeria (Artzer) Hergenreter. She married Albert Ziegler on January 31, 1939. Mary worked for Windsor Gardens and the Brown Palace Hotel in Denver for many years. The Ziegler's lived in the Denver area all their lives until Albert's death, Mary moved to Hillcrest Apartments in Fort Morgan in 2001 before becoming a resident at Eben Ezer in Brush in 2008.

Mary enjoyed horseback riding in her younger days. In more recent years, she enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mary was a member of Saint Helena's Catholic Church in Fort Morgan. She was very devoted to her faith.

Survivors include her son, Eugene F. Ziegler, and his wife, Margaret of Fort Morgan; her daughter-in-law, Sandy Ziegler of Aurora; five grandchildren, Debra Pope (and Kerry) of Fort Morgan, Michael Ziegler (and Angie) of Brush, David Ziegler (and Heidi) of Greeley, Summer Steele (and T.W.) of Oklahoma, and Cody Ziegler of Denver. Mary is also survived by 14 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Casper Hergenreter, and Ralph Hergenreter, both of Brush; two sisters, Lucille Grahm of Sterling, and Josephine Hemphill of Kimball, NE.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband; five brothers, John, Melger, Paul, Jake, and an infant brother; three sisters, Katherine Sewalt, Molly Artzer, and Betty Menford; her parents; and her son, Leroy James Ziegler.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 19th from 5- 7 PM with a Rosary Vigil beginning at 7:00PM, at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 20th at Saint Helena's Catholic Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM in Fairmont Cemetery, 430 South Quebec, Denver, CO 80274.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center, 122 Hospital Road, Brush, CO 80723.
