Gary Schreiner

Obituary Condolences

Garold Lynn Schreiner (Gary) was the fifth of five sons born to William and Betty Schreiner in Fort Morgan, Colorado on January 26th, 1960. This was the same birthday of his oldest brother Bill who was twelve years old when Gary was born. Gary moved with his family to Loveland, Colorado when he was three years old and he grew up and attended schools in Loveland and graduated from Thompson Valley High School in May of 1978. Gary was very active in sports and band at his High School. The City of Loveland is well known for a number of events every year including a Triathlon which consists of a one mile lake swim in Lake Loveland, a 25 mile bike ride, and a 10K run. When this event was first held 35 years ago Gary was the overall winner. Gary was also a two time participant in the STP (Seattle to Portland Bicycle race) and successfully completed it both times. Gary initially worked in the radio industry and worked as a DJ and sports broadcaster for several stations in Colorado where he covered local High School sporting events, Colorado State University and later the Denver Broncos. In the early 1990's he moved to Eugene, Oregon and covered the Oregon State Beavers football and basketball programs. Gary left the Radio Industry and went to work in the bicycle industry repairing and selling bicycles for several different companies. Gary had a passion for this work and was very good at it. He was often the top salesman at the companies he worked for selling bicycles. This is what he was doing when he passed away and was very happy. The other passion in Gary's life was working with young people and children in the various Churches he belonged to throughout his life. He often served as Youth Minster or Assistant Youth Minister. Gary was very good in this field and touched the lives of many young adults and children. A memorial Service is pending and will be announced at a later date. Go to www.viegutfuneralhome.com for condolences. Gary was proceded in death by his Mother and Father and is survived by his four older brothers and their wives. Bill and Jessica of Lebanon, Ohio, Larry and Susan of La Jara, Colorado, Merlin and Sherry of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Cal and Lora of Berthoud, Colorado. He is also survived by nine nieces and nephews, and four great nieces and nephews.
