Salmina "Sally" Pauline Gertge, 96, of Sterling, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, in Sterling. Vigil and Rosary Evening Service will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at Tennant Funeral Home. Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at St. Anthony Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert L. Wedow celebrating. Inurnment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Sally was born on June 1, 1916, in Sedgwick to Joseph and Anna Sommers.
On Nov. 24, 1935, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Iliff, she married Philip Gertge. They celebrated 43 years of marriage before Philip, a farmer, preceded her in death on May 14, 1978.
She is survived by four children, Philip James and Benny Gertge of Fort Morgan, Patricia Hays of Lamar, Mo., Paulette and Sam Dalteri of Overland Park, Kan., Pamela and Steve Zinniel of Fargo, N.D.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews; and sister, Anna Chlopek of Granite City, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip; infant son, Philbert in 1938; and son-in-law, Robert Hays in 2005.
