Dean Rhodes, 79, died Monday, February 11, 2013, at his home in Fort Morgan. |
He was born March 25, 1933 in La Harpe, IL, to Walter and Pearlie (Mitchell) Rhodes. He served in the U.S. Army. Dean married Doris Hoffman in Carthage, IL, on January 10, 1964. They moved to Fort Morgan from Illinois in 1973.
Dean worked for Morton Building's for 20 years before becoming employed with the City of Fort Morgan as part-time help with the cemetery. He retired after 2000.
Dean attended the Trinity Baptist Church in Brush. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, and tinkering and building things. He also liked to go for his daily coffee, and loved to play Lotto and scratch tickets. Dean especially enjoyed "cheating" at cards. He was an avid Colorado Rockies fan. Spending time with his family/granddaughters was very important to him.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Rhodes of Fort Morgan; his daughter, Deborah Horan and her husband, Rick of Brush; his granddaughters, Alicia Horan and Jessica Horan, both of Brush; his siblings, Alice Jones and her husband, Glenn of Peoria, IL, Dale Rhodes and his wife, Erla of Washington, IL, Bernice Landers of Las Vegas, NV, Lois Kuchling and her husband, Herb of Quincy, IL, Pat Whitford and her husband, Gene of Plymouth, IL, and Jim Rhodes and his wife, Betty of Macon, MS.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Clarence Rhodes, Irene Owens, Raymond Rhodes, and Evelyn Stewart.
Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan on Thursday, February 14th, from 5 - 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 15th, at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Baptist Church, 345 Princeton Street, Brush, CO.
Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan.
