Richardson Dorothy Obituary
On June 4, 2014 Dorothy W. Richardson (92) went home to be with Jesus whom she loved and served for many years. She was born on October 17, 1921 in Ft. Morgan, Colorado daughter of Ralph and Mary Work. She often spoke of the wonderful time she had growing up in a large family on the farm even during the hardship years of the depression. Upon graduation from high school, she attended business school in Denver and then contributed to the war-effort as a secretary in Washington DC until the end of WWII. In 1946, Dorothy married Donald C. Richardson and together they made their home south of Wiggins where they farmed and raised their family. Dorothy loved being a farm wife and homemaker; she complemented Don fully in every aspect of the farming operation. She also loved to garden and sew and share the fruit of her labors with neighbors in the community. Dorothy was a long-time member of the Long Meadow Club south of Wiggins. Don and Dorothy founded Resurrection Life Ministries in Wiggins in 1981, where she played the piano and helped with worship. In her later years, after Don died, she moved down to Arizona to be near her daughter, Donna and her family. She dearly loved making new relationships and nurturing old ones. Dorothy's true passion, however, was her family. Highlights while living in Arizona were visits from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death in 2003 by Don, her beloved husband of 57 years. She was also preceded in death by her son, Rex Richardson, her parents, three sisters, Rosemary Achziger, Helen Proctor, and Gaynelle Wall; three brothers, William Work, Ralph Work Jr. and Blair Work. She is survived by one brother, John Work of Fraser, CO, her son, Barry Richardson of Colorado Springs, her daughter, Donna Prellberg of Chandler, AZ; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service for Dorothy will be held at Prairie Winds Foursquare Church in Wiggins, CO (118 Dickson St.) on Saturday July 12, 2014 at 10:30 AM with a luncheon to follow. Family and friends are invited to share in this celebration of her life. A private graveside service will be held on Sunday morning, July 13, 2014 for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to (Dobson Home), 1188 N. Dobson Rd., Chandler, AZ 85224-4004. Make sure to indicate that your gift is in memory of Dorothy Richardson.
