Clarence Linker Obituary
Clarence Lee Linker 79, passed away with his family and loved ones at his bedside Sunday, August 3, 2014 at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush, Colorado, following two years of ill health. He was born March 6, 1935 in Hillrose to Henry and Bertha Linker. He started school in Hillrose, then attended Roosevelt, and graduated high school in Hillrose in 1953. Clarence was a 6 year member of the Fort Morgan National Guard, serving in Fort Lenard Wood, MO and Fort Carson, CO. He married Beva Rae Wind on January 26, 1958 in Brush. They were married for 56 years. In 1958 Clarence and his brother Hank started farming as Linker Bros. They farmed for 38 years before retiring and moving to Brush. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Brush, serving as governor for two years; Member of Elks Lodge No. 1143 in Fort Morgan with his 50 year pin; belonged to the Brush Bowling Association, where he was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1985 and Bowler of the Year for 1992-93. He was also a member of the Brush Beet Growers Association, serving as president one year. He then belonged to Fort Morgan Local Sugar Beet Growers Association for 35 years, and Colorado Sugar Beet Grower Association as State Director for 29 years, and as Secretary-Treasurer for 8 years. Survivors include his wife Beva; two sons, Stan (Cathy) and Bryan (Jill); and five Grandchildren, Trenton (Cora), Chad (fiancée Kortney Kaper), Lindsey Cavinder (Ryan), Matthew (Lauren), and Katie; and a great grandson coming in November. Clarence was preceded in death by his brothers Alvin and Hank and sister Beverly, and his parents. A Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, August 7th at 11:00 AM at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush. The inurnment will be at 2:00 PM in the Brush Memorial Cemetery Columbarium. Memorial gifts, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center.
