STEPHEN R. BASSETT, 65, of Harlan, died on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, 6 p.m., in Fort Wayne. Born Jan. 5, 1948, in Hicks ville, Ohio, he was the son of the late Richard B. and Mildred L. (Miller) Bassett. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of American Legion Post 157, Churubusco. He worked in maintenance at Raytheon, Fort Wayne for 46 years. Surviving are his daughter, Marlene (Erik) Shull of Easton, Md.; son, Bradley A. Bassett of Fort Wayne; two grandchildren, Caleb and Kelsey Shull of Easton, Md.; two stepbrothers, Edward and Fred Hagadorn, both of Fort Wayne; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a stepsister, Dorothy Jefferies. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hockemeyer Funeral Home, Harlan, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Lael Barkman officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial in Harlan Memorial Cemetery. Preferred memorials to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
