RON E. VOLZ, 75, of New Haven, died on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Edward and Geraldine Volz. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fort Wayne. Ron taught music at Whitley County Schools, Bishop Luers High School and retired from I.P.F.W. in 2008. Ron enjoyed umpiring baseball and softball, and refereeing basketball and volleyball for several local venues. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Paula; children, Julie (Steve) Wells, Mark (Kelly) Volz, Chuck (Jen) Volz, Michelle (Tim) Kindler, and Tom (Holly) Volz, all of Fort Wayne; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 4643 Gaywood Drive, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Father Daniel Durkin officiating. Calling also from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers contributions to Miller's Merry Manor, Fort Wayne or the Penguin's Exhibit at Fort Wayne Children's Zoo. Ron has been missed at Sacred Heart. What a great and dependable sacristan EVERY Sunday. We will remember him always with that wonderful smile!

I admired Ron so much.I am a 1970 Bishop Luers grad.I soloed ''THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM''In front of the student body.Mr.Volz encouraged me so much along the way.I received a standing ovation.
