BILLY L. SNYDER

BILLY L. SNYDER, 82, passed away on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, with his family by his side. Born in Bippus, Ind., Bill graduated from Huntington High School and Ball State University. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and had the honor of playing in their band. After high school, he met the love of his life, Sue Akers; they were married for 52 years. Bill was Founder / President of Community Mortgage, which has served Fort Wayne and the surrounding area for over 30 years. He and his late wife, Sue founded the "Hoosier Shooters" Basketball Club. Bill was a member of Phi Epsilon Fraternity, Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, charter member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, various golfing groups and professional organizations. He played drums for the Jimmy Stier Band and the Shrine Band. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, music, traveling, being at his lake home and dining out with longtime friends every Friday night. Surviving are his daughter, Jill (Greg) Frew of New York, N.Y.; son, Steve (Erlene Yentes) Snyder of North Webster, Ind.; companion, Kathy Hines of Fort Wayne; and his beloved dog, Casey. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue, in 2010; infant daughter, Ann Renee; and parents, Lloyd and Ester Snyder. Service is 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 4700 Vance Ave., with calling 1/2 hour prior. Calling also from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road. Entombment in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Stanley Wissman Stroke Center.
