CARTER L. QUANCE, 61, passed on to Heaven on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, 6:58 a.m., at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. Now "The Lord holds him in His hands." Psalm 139:10 Born Oct. 1, 1951, in Garrett, Ind., he was the son of the late Robert Quance and Beverly (Bolley) Quance. A 1970 graduate of Carroll High School, Fort Wayne, he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Manchester College in 1976 with a major in Choral Music and a miner in Math. He lived in Warsaw for over 30 years having moved from Fort Wayne. He married Marty J. (Hammonds) Hoffman on Sept. 30, 1989, in South Bend, Ind. He was a supervisor at Lippert Components, Inc., Goshen, Ind. for the past two years. "Carter believed God's Word is the basis of all TRUTH; he taught and brought understanding to it." His favorite verse in the Bible was Romans 8:18 and his favorite chapter was Psalm 23. He attended and ministered as a co-captain on the ushering staff at Christian Center, South Bend for 22 years; presently ministered as an elder in the Word at One Tree Crossing, Perrysburg, Ind.; and loved God's Word, music, and his boxer, Brindy. He would say, "There are dogs; then there are boxers." He enjoyed playing his guitar and trumpet, water skiing, ping pong and softball. He was witty and well liked and was a loving husband and father, and an awesome grandpa. Surviving are his wife, Marty J. Quance, of Warsaw; three children, Aaron Quance of Warsaw, Melita Quance Schwartz of Prescott, Ariz. and Corban (Caitlin) Quance of Warsaw; five stepchildren, Dawn (Chris) Patrick of North Manchester, Ind., Leann Laughlin of Etna Green, Ind., Preston (Anne) Hoffman of Columbia City, Tonya (Brian) Richie of Denver, Ind., and Hope Nutting of South Bend, Ind.; 19 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Cheryl (Garth) Coons of Wawaka, Ind. Service is 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with calling from 9 to 10 a.m. Pastor Brian Richie of One Tree Crossing Church, Perrysburg, Ind. calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at the funeral home.
