CHARLES E. MACY, 82, of Churubusco, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, at Provena Sacred Heart Home, Avilla. He graduated from Wolf Lake High School and was a Korean Conflict Army veteran. He retired in 1981 from International Harvester after 30 years, and was a member of Big Lake Church of God and Churubusco American Legion Post 157. He was known for his strong faith, story telling, his acceptance of others, and love for his family. Surviving are his children, David (Tina) Macy of LaOtto and Phyllis (Jim) Eckert of Churubusco; sisters, Vera Gaff of Warsaw and Melanie (Robin) Ramey of Ash Grove, Mo.; brother, Thomas (Viola) Macy of Columbia City; grandchildren, Nathan (Denise) Macy, Dustin (Courtney) Macy, Molly (Stone) Opliger, and Brad Eckert; and great-grandchildren, Brittany, Jonathan, Samuel, and Alexander Macy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Halsey) Macy, in 2001. Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at Big Lake Church of God, north of Columbia City, with calling one hour prior. Pastors Shawn Easterling and Tim Grable officiating. Calling also from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco. Burial with military graveside rites in Sparta Cemetery, Kimmell. Memorials to Provena Sacred Heart Home or Churubusco American Legion Post 157.
