CLEO DALE SHIPE, 84, of Auburn, died on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at his home. Born March 13, 1928, in Fairfield Township, DeKalb County, he was a son of Harry B. and Velma (Grogg) Shipe. He worked at Borg Warner / Auburn Gear for 43 years, retiring in 1991. He was also a farmer. He loved his time spent gardening and farming. He was a member of Pleasant Chapel Church of the Brethren of Ashley. He married Ruth Werner on Oct. 10, 1948, in Garrett; she survives. Also surviving are two sons and two daughters, David (Lynn) Shipe of Auburn, Dr. Terry (Jan) Shipe of Angola, Kathy (Richard) Reynolds of Auburn, and Cheryl Parrett of Garrett; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and six sisters and three brothers, Crystal Mahoney of Yorktown, Jenovie (Dick) Bailey of Florida, Merritt Shipe of Florida, Berdenia (Art) Utrup of Delphos, Ohio, Donald (Jan) Shipe of Fort Wayne, Barbara Horseman of Bluffton, Echo Kesler of Auburn, Gloria (Keith) Amstutz of New Haven, and Billy Shipe of Garrett. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Clytie Conner. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at Feller & Clark Funeral Home, 1860 S. Center St., Auburn, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at the funeral home. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Auburn.
