COLLEEN E. KEENAN, 72, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at Lutheran Life Villages at Pine Valley. Born in Peoria, Ill., Colleen was a lifelong artist and was an educator both in Florida and North Carolina retiring in 2004. She was a member of Inner Light Ministries. She was a daily meditator for the last 25 years. She would have celebrated 32 years of sobriety on Jan. 10, 2013. "Colleen never met a stranger, she loved deeply and will be a hard act to follow." Surviving are her two "beautiful" daughters, Jamie-Jo Perry of Va., Leigh Ilse of Fort Wayne; and her stepdaughter, Ann Cox of Pa., three "extraordinary" grandchildren, Garreth and Gillian Gibson and Holden Walker; sisters, Patricia Heinz and Margaret Clough. She was preceded in death by parents, William and Minerva (Blumenshine) Keenan; and "the love of her life," Edward A. Watts; and brother, Michael Keenan. Memorial service is 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 with a Sunrise Meditation at 8 a.m., with brunch following the service at Inner Light Ministries, 220 Insurance Drive, Fort Wayne.
