DONALD H. KEMP, 92, passed away on Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at Visiting Nurse, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he was a graduate of Purdue University where he was an All American runner. He served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Donald was a master educator with Fort Wayne Community Schools, teaching at North Side and Elmhurst High Schools and also coaching track and cross country. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and choir, the Purdue Alumni Association, John Purdue Club, Fort Wayne Retired Teachers, NEA, and the Indiana State Teachers Retirement Association. His hobbies included gardening, music, reading, and dancing. Surviving are his wife of 69 years, June Kemp of Fort Wayne; sons, Michael (Alicia) Kemp of Hebron, Ky. and Philip (Manjula) Kemp of St. Petersburg, Fla..; daughters, Diane (Robert) Polonsky of Montrose, Colo., Gloria Kemp and Kathryn (George) Day, both of Fort Wayne; brother, William Kemp of Fort Wayne; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Gertrude Kemp; and brother, Thomas Kemp. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at St. Jude Catholic Church, with calling one hour prior. Fr. Jake Runyon officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with a Vigil at 6:30 p.m. Burial in Catholic Cemetery. Fort Wayne.
