DORCAS L. SCHEURICH, 84, of Auburn died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at DeKalb Health in Auburn. She was the co-owner and clerk of Shorty's Motor Service in Auburn for 45 years, retiring in 2004. She was a member of the Auburn First United Methodist Church where she also was a member of Grace Circle. She also was a member of the County Chorus for 30 years, and a former member of the Women of the Moose in Auburn, where she served as Senior Regent. She was born July 27, 1928, in Auburn, a daughter of George C. and Louise L. (Baungman) Merryfield. She married Maynard J. "Shorty" Scheurich on June 1, 1947, in Avilla, and he died Nov. 7, 1985. Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn (Jerry) Tinkham of Auburn, and Diane S. Scheurich of Auburn; four sons, Leonard L. Scheurich of Indianapolis, Larry A. (Deb) Scheurich of Fort Wayne; Ronald J. (Dawn) Scheurich of St. Joe; and Kim A. Scheurich of Auburn; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a daughter, Joyce A. Hoyer. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012 at Feller & Clark Funeral Home, 1860 S. Center St., Auburn, with the Rev. Dale Williams officiating. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in Auburn.
