EDWARD J. BALLINGER, 88, of Fort Wayne, died on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born Feb. 27, 1924, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was raised in Mt. Vernon, Ky. and had lived in Fort Wayne for several years before moving to Florida after retirement. He retired from International Harvester after 35 years of service. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. Surviving are his sons, Denny (Emie) Ballinger of Las Vegas, Nev., Jack (Mary Beth) Ballinger of Indianapolis and Steven (Kathy) Ballinger of White House, Tenn.; daughters, Cindy (Jim) Kennedy of Kimmel, Ind. and Vicki (Rick) Franklin of Seminole, Fla.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola (Rutz); and son, Danny Ballinger. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, with calling one hour prior. Entombment in Serenity Gardens Memorial Park, Largo, Fla.
