ELEANOR G. LYON-NIELSEN, 87, of Fort Wayne, passed to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013. Born Jan. 15, 1926, in Mansfield, Ohio, she was a daughter of Scott R. and Cora Tasce Lyon. Eleanor was proud of her Native American Heritage and was part of the Navajo Nation and a member of the Tassi Clan. For 30 years, Eleanor was a teacher in Fort Wayne and La Puente, Calif and continued to educate many in music and art after her retirement. She was the piano player for Getsemani United Methodist Church until her passing. Surviving are sister-in-law, Josephine Lyon of Bellville, Ohio; nieces, Pamela Lyon-S of Napa, Calif., Molly Bartrum and Shelley (Steve) Hughett of Bellville, Ohio; nephew, Kelly Lyon of Bellville, Ohio; several great nieces and great nephews; as well as her stepchildren, Jim Nielsen (Dayle Lopes) of Madison, Wis., Lifka (Charles) Bennett of Mineral Point, Wis., Todd (Deborah) Nielsen of Lakeland, Minn., Brian (Miriam) Nielsen of Mason, Mich., and Darci Sullivan of Dodgeville, Wis.; and eight step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jens E. Nielsen whom she married on July 15, 2004; brother, William S. Lyon; and her parents. A memorial service celebrating her life is 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Simpson United Methodist Church, 2501 S.
