EUGENE "GENE" AVERY

EUGENE "GENE" AVERY, 79, passed away Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012. Born in Fort Wayne, Gene had owned Avery's Tap and worked for Graves Trucking and Ace Radiator. He had been a member of St. Nicholas Eastern Orthodox Church, Travelers Protective Association, American Legion and Ducks Unlimited. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. "He also was always available to assist others." Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Helene Avery; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Grace; brothers, Jack and Bill; and sister, Rose. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 at St. Nicholas Eastern Orthodox Church, 3535 Crescent Ave., with calling one hour prior. Fr. Andrew Jarmus officiating. Calling also from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church, with Trisagion Prayer at 6:30 p.m. Entombment in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the St. Nicholas Eastern Orthodox Church.
