GEORGE H. NEWTON, 83, of Fort Wayne, passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 at Parkview Hospital. Born Sept. 6, 1929 in Fort Wayne, he was an U.S. Air Force veteran. He was employed as a salesman in Industrial Scales Sales. He was a member of Crescent Ave. United Methodist Church, Sol D. Bayless Masonic Lodge, and Scottish Rite. Surviving are his children, George "Russ" Newton of Fort Wayne; Susan L. Emmons (Mark) of Fort Wayne; Laura A. Newton of Bloomington, Ind., and Barney A. Newton of Fort Myers, Fla.; four granddaughters; one grandson and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty in 1997. Memorial Service is 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at Crescent Ave. United Methodist Church, 1232 Crescent Ave. with calling one hour prior. Burial in Hopewell Cemetery, Randolph County, Ind. George and Betty were avid IU fans, cream and crimson or IU attire is welcome. Preferred memorials to Aids Task Force, Crescent Ave. United Methodist Church or Parkview Hospice.
