IRIS E. MAXTON, 87, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at Kindred Transitional Care, Fort Wayne. Born Dec. 3, 1925, she was a daughter of George and Orpha Fay (Kimmerly) Summers, Winchester, Ind. She was a loving and devoted wife, to James (Jim) Maxton before his death in 1988. Jim and Iris were very active serving in their church, Meadow Crest Brethren of Fort Wayne. She was a member of the Women's Missionary Society. They also enjoyed bowling in leagues and loved to travel. Searching the countryside for glassware and collectibles was a passion they shared for many years. Iris worked at General Electric, Fort Wayne for 40 years before her retirement. Surviving are her twin sister, Doris (Peter) Weber of Tucson, Ariz; dear friend, Shirley Troup of Fort Wayne; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Maxton; and sister, Vernabelle Hampshire. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home 4017 Maplecrest Road, with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Richard Austin officiating. Burial service is 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Garden of Memory, Marion, Ind. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Liver Foundation, PO Box 36085, Indianapolis, IN 46236. Envelopes will be provided at the Funeral Home.
